Daniel Philippe is a composer, pianist and improviser from Brisbane. He completed his Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, studying under Gerard Brophy and Mary Mageau. His compositions incorporate sounds from contemporary art music, jazz, world music and other contemporary styles. In performance he takes great pleasure in improvising, through which he explores musical and spiritual realms and which enables a deep personal connection to the music. His ambient jazz ensemble, Reflectiv, have released two full albums, one with the Ipswich City Symphony Orchestra, an EP of remixes, two albums of solo piano improvisations and one single (www.reflectiv.bandcamp.com). During the coronavirus pandemic, Daniel received a grant to write and produce a song, Breathe In, with a theme of people supporting each other.
Daniel is also a music educator, having taught in secondary schools and in his private music school, AspirA music. He also regularly performs solo piano recitals and in various ensembles.
